The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) released April 2025 preliminary employment estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, reporting a total of 3,053,700 nonfarm jobs in the state.

Wisconsin’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.3% from the previous month, remaining 0.9 percentage points below the national unemployment rate of 4.2%. The state’s labor force participation rate dipped to 65.5%, while the national rate increased to 62.6%, keeping Wisconsin’s participation rate 2.9 percentage points higher than the national average.

According to place of residence data, Wisconsin’s labor force decreased by 4,900 over the month but grew by 900 over the year. Employment fell by 5,400 over the month to 3,066,500, a decline of 9,900 from the previous year. Place of work data showed total nonfarm jobs decreased by 1,500 over the month but increased by 15,100 over the year, reaching 3,053,700 jobs.
