Wisconsin had 3.3 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending April 27, 2025, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Another rainy week hampered efforts to begin widespread fieldwork statewide. Activities included manure application, tillage and planting as conditions allowed.
Topsoil moisture condition rated 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 65 percent adequate and 24 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture condition rated 3 percent very short, 14 percent short, 66 percent adequate and 17 percent surplus.
Corn planting was 4 percent complete, while soybeans were 6 percent planted.
Oat planting was 26 percent complete, 4 days behind last year and 2 days behind the 5-year average. Oats were 3 percent emerged.
Potato planting reached 41 percent, 4 days behind last year but 1 day ahead of the average.
Spring tillage was 26 percent complete, 5 days behind last year and 3 days behind the average.
Pasture and range condition was rated 37 percent good to excellent, up 10 percentage points from last week.
Winter wheat condition was rated 58 percent good to excellent, up 6 percentage points from last week.
