Education reformer Brittany Kinser has launched her first video in her campaign for Secretary of the Department of Public instruction.

Kinser has experience teaching special education and science in public schools. During her tenure as principal at a public elementary school, she was recognized with the “Beating the Odds” award by then-State Superintendent Tony Evers.

In the video, below, Kinser touts her background and advocates for a greater focus on career readiness, more transparency from and higher standards at DPI. “I’m running for State Superintendent, because we can’t settle for the status quo,” she says. “Our kids can’t wait.”

Kinser’s campaign notes she has taken on leadership roles in both local and national educational organizations. Recently, she co-founded a literacy initiative aimed at tackling the reading crisis through direct student instruction and strategic support for school leaders, ensuring all students have the chance to become proficient readers. Holding advanced degrees in education, Brittany is committed to driving transformative change in education.

Last year, she launched 95 Wisconsin, which she notes on her campaign website is based on her conviction that with high-quality, evidence-based teaching, 95% of Wisconsin’s children could achieve reading proficiency, aspiring to make Wisconsin the first state to meet this goal.

Kinser is challenging incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction Jill Underly and Sauk Prairie School District Superintendent Jeff Wright.

The Primary Election is Tuesday, February 18th. The top two finishers advance to the April General Election on Tuesday, April 1st.
