In the days leading up to St. Nick’s Day, many Milwaukee area families create an atmosphere of anticipation. Years ago Children would polish their boots or hang stockings by the fireplace, eager to receive surprises.
To this day, thousands of kids place their shoes or hang stockings on the night of the 5th to celebrate St Nick’s day the next morning.
Small gifts, sweets, oranges, nuts, and chocolates will be placed in boots or stockings during the night.
