Wisconsin had 1.6 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending April 6, 2025, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Much of the state received rain, ice or snow during the week. While conditions were generally not favorable for fieldwork, some manure was applied where conditions allowed. Farmers were also preparing and maintaining tillage and planting equipment for the upcoming fieldwork. Sprinkler systems or flooding were being used to protect some cranberry beds from frost.

Topsoil moisture condition rated 0 percent very short, 10 percent short, 62 percent adequate and 28 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture condition rated 4 percent very short, 18 percent short, 57 percent adequate and 21 percent surplus.

Oat planting was 1 percent complete, while spring tillage was 2 percent complete.

Pasture and range condition was 16 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 41 percent fair, 24 percent good and 2 percent excellent.

Winter wheat condition was 1 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 51 percent fair, 40 percent good and 2 percent excellent.
