Less than five days after the live-streamed assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Wisconsin candidate for governor, Kelda Roys, launches her campaign with what some see as violent rhetoric.

“[W]e are in the fight of our lives for our democracy and our kids’ future,” the video begins.

“Now, as extremists attack our freedoms while families struggle to get by, we’re fighting back together.”

The Dane County Democratic State Senator is not apologizing for her rhetoric or imagery, when asked by a television reporter if her choice of words was appropriate in the wake of the Kirk assassination, she said: “I think honesty is always appropriate.”
