MPS Superintendent Keith Posley resigns | Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Milwaukee Superintendent Keith Posley announced his resignation early Tuesday morning after the school board met for over five hours in a closed session meeting about his employment.
The move comes days after state and federal officials raised alarms about operations at MPS that jeopardize funding to the district.
Board members voted unanimously to accept Posley’s resignation agreement, which was not immediately made public. The resignation is effective June 30, according to a statement from the school board.

Wisconsin candidates hit filing deadline, setting stage for competitive November races | WPR
Following a Monday deadline, Wisconsin candidates for the November general election are one step closer to getting on the ballot, setting the stage for competitive races in a year when new legislative maps have shifted the landscape for statewide elections.
..In the Legislature, 310 candidates filed to run for the state’s 99 Assembly districts — all of which are up for grabs under the new maps — and in 16 of the Senate districts…
Candidates faced a 5 p.m. filing deadline Monday, with papers required to be dropped off in person at the commission’s Madison offices.
…The Wisconsin Elections Commission will meet next Monday to formally finalize the names that will appear on voters’ November ballots. In the meantime, the agency will review candidates’ paperwork to determine eligibility and review pending challenges.
This is a very useful bit of data collection that could save lives.
DMV: Wisconsin residents can now add emergency contact information to records | WKOW
Emergency contact information can now be added to Wisconsin licenses, the DMV said Monday.
[The] “To Inform Families First” or “TIFF” provide[s] law enforcement the ability to contact family members and loved ones more efficiently. Only law enforcement will be able to access this information, and it is not required nor printed on ID cards.
To add emergency contact information to a DMV record, visit the website. It is not necessary to visit the DMV to make these changes.

Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin, Nebraska to open NCAA volleyball season | VolleyballMag
The 2024 college volleyball season will now both start and end in Louisville.
The AVCA announced Monday that Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin and Nebraska will participate in its First Serve Showcase on Tuesday, August 27, at the KFC Yum! Center, also the site of NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship in December.
The First Serve Showcase will start with Nebraska of the Big Ten playing Kentucky of the SEC at 7 p.m. Eastern, followed by Wisconsin of the Big Ten versus Louisville of the ACC. The matches will be broadcast on ESPN2.
While predicable, the MPS drama is far from over. According to yesterday’s perspective piece, today should be filled with statements of indignation and optimism from some of the very same people who have done nothing to improve Milwaukee Public Schools over the last several decades.
