Delivering for the American People

By Wisconsin Third District Congressman Derrick Van Orden

As Congress begins our August district work period, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the bills House Republicans have passed that deliver for the American people.

Making Our Communities Safe

  • The Laken Riley Act, which has been signed into law, to require the detention of illegal aliens who commit theft-related crimes and mandate ICE take them into custody.
  • The Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act to make illegal aliens who are convicted of, or who admit to committing, sex offenses or domestic violence inadmissible and deportable from the U.S.
  • The HALT Fentanyl Act, which has been signed into law, to permanently classify fentanyl-related substances in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.
  • The TAKE IT DOWN Act, which has been signed into law, to prohibit the nonconsensual online publication of intimate visual depictions of individuals, both authentic and AI generated.
  • The LEOSA Reform Act to broaden the ability of qualified active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms.

Securing Our Elections

  • The SAVE Act to require individuals to provide proof of U.S citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.

Cutting Government Waste

  • The Recissions Act of 2025, which was signed into law, to cut $9 billion in wasteful federal spending on anti-American foreign aid initiatives and woke public broadcasting.

Protecting Women’s Sports

Strengthening Our National Security

  • The DETERRENT Act to protect our higher education institutions from foreign interference by strengthening disclosure requirements for foreign gifts and contracts.
  • The United States-Taiwan Expedited Double-Tax Relief Act to strengthen the U.S. economic alliance with Taiwan by providing targeted and expedited relief from double-taxation on cross-border investment between America and Taiwan.

Passing the One, Big, Beautiful Bill

Earlier this month, the House passed the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which secured great wins for hardworking families, seniors, business owners, farmers, and vulnerable populations.

  • $500,000 plus up for rural healthcare infrastructure and an additional $1 billion annually for BadgerCare.
  • An average increase in take-home pay of $10,000/year for hardworking Americans and families.
  • No tax on tips or overtime.
  • Invests in the farm safety net, crop insurance, base acres, agriculture research and livestock biosecurity.
  • A $4,000 bonus to the standard tax deduction for seniors.
  • A permanent extension of the 20% small business tax deduction.
  • Restores integrity in programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
  • Increasing the Death Tax exemption.
  • Invests in border security with funding for wall construction, fleet vehicles, and agents.

I’m proud of what House Republicans have accomplished so far, and I remain committed to fighting for what is best for Wisconsin’s Third District and getting you the results you deserve.
