The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that recipients of the ATV Enhancement Grant Program may apply now through March 15 for the new supplemental grant as provided in the state budget.
The funding for the mapping and communications grant was approved last year by the Wisconsin State Legislature and Gov. Evers in 2023 Wisconsin Act 67. The grant was allotted $160,000 for the initial period.
As the state crafts the next two-year budget, the allotment for the main grant will be $80,000 annually and is supported through segregated DNR funds dedicated to the activity. Funds are awarded biennially with the state budget, for a two-year project period.
Supplemental Grant Only Available To Enhancement Grant Holders
The application period for the program’s supplemental grant is also open. However, only holders of the main ATV Safety Enhancement Funding grants are eligible to apply for the supplemental grant funds.
These grant project awards are to be used for improving the safety and accessibility of ATV and UTV riding opportunities in Wisconsin. Eligible projects will include communications equipment such as radios, and maps and software that provide safety, regulatory and riding opportunity information on a statewide basis.
Visit the ATV Enhancement Funding webpage for more about the program and information on how to apply by May 1 to be considered for the main and supplemental grants for future cycles.
