Lovely Plymouth has an enchanting New Year’s Eve tradition known as the Sartori Big Cheese Drop.

As the clock winds down excitement permeates the air, drawing people of all ages to the vibrant downtown area. Amidst the bustling crowd stands a magnificent sight – a specially crafted cheese wedge, adorned with dazzling lights, suspended from above. The anticipation builds as the revelers eagerly wait for the grand moment.

Voices unite in a synchronized countdown, harmonizing with the rhythm of the passing seconds. Tension fills the atmosphere, reaching its peak as the final moments of the year slip away.

With a gentle descent, the illuminated cheese starts graceful glide towards the eager crowd below. Its enchanting lights add a mesmerizing glow, illuminating the faces of the onlookers with anticipation. Cheers erupt, blending with bursts of colorful fireworks that paint the sky, creating a dazzling display of celebration.

The festivities continue well into the night, accompanied by lively music, good times and great neighbors. But, seeing as how it is a family event, the Big Cheese drops at 10pm, not the stroke of midnight! It also helps to get there early (the band begins in the Plymouth Arts Center greatroom at 830, and gift bags of Sartori Cheese will be distributed to the first 250 families who show up).

The Sartori Big Cheese Drop is not just an event, but an embodiment of the proud cheese-making heritage and small town civic pride that Wisconsin holds dear. It represents the imaginative and playful spirit of Plymouth, captivating those who experience its whimsical charm. Within the shared joy and laughter, this tradition creates lasting memories and strengthens the bonds of a community.
