Now, it’s the Democrats’ turn.
After a Summer that has seen more political twists and turns than most decades, the Democratic National Convention convenes this week in Chicago. Party leaders hope to make no news at all. They want a four day infomercial for their ticket and ride the wave of positive vibes that have washed over the Democrats since President Biden announced he would end his re-election campaign.
But even with a fawning press on their side, there is no guarantee that this week will be news free.
The protests were (thankfully) a dud in Milwaukee last month. This week in Chicago could be a lot more fiery. Chicago and the DNC have a volatile history, after all.
