Here is the first comparison of early voting numbers (as of Wednesday morning) to the same time in 2023.
Expect these numbers to bounce around in coming days (as clerks have varying degrees of urgency in terms of reporting them). Statewide, absentees are up 51%.
Dane vs Waukesha
Dane is up 39%, Waukesha is up 50%. Not surprising considering that in 2023 Democrats had already embraced early voting, but it didn’t catch on with Republicans until 2024. Red Washington County is up 171%.
Rural Wisconsin
A number of small, rural counties are actually running behind 2023. Again, this could be delays in reporting and these numbers will likely bounce around as time goes on.
